It's not "cool", and it's not "uncool", given that I assume you are using this word in it's cool = fashionable context. I think, when used responsibly of course, that it's a great way to unwind with friends. And I must admit, given the bright summer nights these days, I've been indulging in it a lot myself lately. The thing I hate though, is people getting violent and aggresive when drinking, just like my parents do. When there are problems in my house, nine times out of ten it is alcohol related. But I think that is more due to how stupid people are, rather than how bad alcohol is, and I don't drink with those people.
I don't believe getting drunk is stupid, at least not if you're relatively good-natured. Drinking with a couple of good, trustworthy friends, is something I believe that everyone should try at least once.
If it's fun and doesn't hurt other people in some way, it gets a thumbs up from me. I do accept that sometimes people do or participate in dangerous things while drinking, I think is a problem inside them, rather than with alcohol. For example, it doesn't matter how drunk I may be; there are just some things that I'd never do. I know my friends are the same too.
And just a thought. Are the people who are saying drinking is a stupid thing to do, not just the same as the people who are saying not drinking is a stupid thing to do, I wonder?
