    Default Disc Read Error

Yeah, have any of you been able to fix this yourself, and if so how.

Or, how can it be fixed?

    I just want it fixed.

This is what I've always referenced to with the DRE:

I've never tried it, mind you, and as far as I can tell it's very tedious with only a small chance of working.

None of the recommended treatments worked for my PS2, but I understand that it varies from console to console, so just try Hsu's method or any other sensible ones you can find. Hopefully you'll be able to fix it.

This doesnt always work, but if you take some rubbing alcahol and, using a soft cloth, rub the CD in an up and down fashion with the alcahol, and then dry it off, it may fix some of your problems.

I've had DRE problems twice with my PS2. I've sent it to Sony twice, only having to pay for postage, and they fixed it, no problem. You PS2 will be gone for about 3 weeks, but I'd deal with it, as long as it gets fixed properly. Just call the number on the instruction manual.
