Haven't you been listening when we told you that it doesn't fit the story? The story says that Quistis is a SeeD instructer who just go demoted to an average SeeD and Selphie is a transfer student from Trabia who just passed the SeeD exam (neither of which are sorceresses), Julia is Rinoa's mother who died when Rinoa was young (not Edea and Ultimecia), and that time compression sets in after defeating Sorceress Adel when Ellone sends Rinoa's conscience along with Ultimecia's into the past; not anywhere else. It doesn't fit the story unless you ignore it and use your imagination to shove some ideas around.

So open-mindedness and cleverness were inversely proportional
(just in the case of FF).

Why do you say that? Sure, being clever and being open-minded are different things, but sure as hell aren't opposites.
