How can you name Linkin Park and Mariah Carey on the bandlist when
THE FLOYD is coming back to play for it. Come on now, get your
    priorities straight.

5.5 Billion people? Yeah, I've heard numbers in the billions bandied around quite a bit. Personally, if it actually breaks 1.5 billion I'll be impressed. You think at the least, half of China will be watching this? (Bear in mind that the ENTIRE rest of the planet will have to watch in that case.) What about Africa itself, as well as much the Middle East? I'm fairly sure most of them don't have radios or TVs, but y'know, let's not ruin a good circus here.

I continue to be unimpressed with Live 8. As far as I'm concerned, it's just an excuse for most people to not feel guilty because they've 'done their part'.

if nothing else, at least it was worth being able to listen to a live stream of pink floyd.

How dare MTV cut in during David's solo. Seriously, who the hell do they think they are?

So yeah, The Floyd playing was about the greatest thing ever. But they didn't show much of Rick.

    Yeah, only a few shots.
Did MTV SERIOUSLY cut his solo? He played like 3 mins of the 5 he did in '94, which I was THERE TO SEE
Shame, due to time restrictions he couldn't play it all, but he would've
If he did, I would've had an orgasm and broke down in tears.
Apart from me seeing them in 94, that was the single greatest musical thing I've ever seen, despite it being 20 minutes. Absolutely gobsmacking.

well, the assholes started talking during the middle of the song and acted like they were going to cut it off before Dave's solo started, but then it looks like someone from on high said "STFU N00BS" because they didn't cut out until the song was pretty much over. I was smurfing pissed at them, though.

Floyd looked like they were enjoying themselves, which is a good sign.

Holy smurfing hell, this blew my smurfing mind. It was so brilliant. Just amazing, simply amazing.

Jesus, seeing everyone in London singing the end of Hey Jude was great. Dammit. Awesomeness.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Regardless, there shouldn't have been a word from anyone throughout their twenty or so minutes on stage.

It was pretty awesome when Roger dedicated Wish You Were Here to all the people not there, but especially Syd.

Watching the live stream off music.aol.com was a bit better. Despite being smaller, there were no interruptions at all. Pure bliss.

    iawtp.

There'll probably be thirty seeds of the aol feed of the show tomorrow on BitTorrent, so no worries. I'm definitely going to need to watch this stuff again.

Definitely. I heard that the MTV broadcast wasn't all that great. But the AOL feed is quality stuff. And they're already showing the rebroadcasts.

And man, Bono knows how to work the crowd.

I am so jealous of the people who were at Hyde Park, it's ridiculous.
