Umm.. not really that rich at all. ;; I have 700,000 gil in my pocket, and around another 600k-700k in equiptment.

Well since you asked..
Its not that much compared to some of the richer people out there..but i do know its kinda alot for some. :x
almost 6k!! . I feel rich... i can afford any equipment i want .
P.S. I was serious... i can afford any equipment i want (that i can use lol).

The more you learn the more you forget,
The more you forget the dummer you get,
So tell me, why learn?

Gil in your wallet won't make you a better player. The moment I have enough gil for an equipment upgrade, I spend it. I have 4k on me. I just spent 200k on Flare. The most gil that's ever been in my wallet was an even 1 mil, and that got spent on a Penitent's Rope straight away. I'm always broke, but my equipment is valuable.
Knock yourselves down.
We are talking about how much gil we have O_o I usually can find better things to spend. Like 1milish for a Ammet +1? while nice i feel that my gil can be better spent elsewhere. Like crafting. I like to save up so when i really do need something i can actually use my gil. Like Flare is necessary anyway, all ancient magic except Freeze and maybe Burst are kinda not as necessary.
Meh, if I only bought the "useful" spells, I'd have nothing but ice nukes, stun, sleeps, escape and warp II. I've acquired every spell I can learn, but 2/3 of them are useless. Am I dumb for wasting gil on spells that'll never see use (hello stonega II)? Are parties dumb for never thinking outside the box, forcing me to burst distortion from level 1-75 like a trained monkey? I imagine both answers are half true. Either way, I never have much gil unspent. I only have gil when I'm buying something, for the most part. Any small change I might have is for travel expenses.

I dont know what parties you been in but not every PT is a Distortion Skillchain for me. I am sure you are being sarcastic about that..either that or i make my own parties. That and i think it is dumb to waste money on Stonaga II. Its your gil so you can spend it however you wish, but just because i dont spend my gil as much doesnt mean i am a bad player as well.
I am poor. Why? Because Bastokians suck.
The most I've ever had at one time was just over 300,000. Never even got close to 1 million.
I've been saving gil so that I can do a craft (which I have started), and for any equiptment I might need in the future. Also, good to save some for traveling and foods/drinks. >.>;
Saving gil is usefull rather than using it at once all the time. But if it works for you, then great. ^^

Oh, Sorry LionX. I see the misunderstanding. When I said gil in the wallet doesn't make one a better player, I didn't mean people with lots of excess gil were bad players. I meant, it's not helping you there. If I have a million gil in my wallet, or I buy a penitent's rope for a million gil, I still have a million gil. In fact, putting my million gil in a commodity like a penitents rope means that I now have 1.5 million, because of inflation. That million in your wallet loses value every day as prices on goods you need increase. Day by day, the actual value of a sum of gil drops. The price of your equipment on the other hand, is most likely skyrocketing like everything else on the AH. Sorry again. I didn't mean to imply that having lots of gil was a sign of a bad player. I just wasn't very clear.

Inflation works on certain items. Pentinents rope will only get higher, however some other things like RaiseIII goes down in price and using gil on say spells are nonrefundable. Depends on the item at hand.
I've got somewhere close to 550k on me right now. The most I've ever had was around 800k, but I've spent most of that money on equips that I'll be selling back relatively soon, so I suppose I'll be getting most all of it back.
I have about 10 gil on me at any given time.
