A really hard boss

I'm currently on the second disk, so far so good. There's this really hard boss. He's this robot guy (very discriptive of me ) who, in a random part of the battle, reaches his big claw forward and picks up one of the characters. After that, the character can't fight anymore. If one character is knocked out and the other two are held captive by the robot guy's hand, it's game over. Any tips?

I think his name is Left Arm

I know exactly who you're talking about. Its the Carry Armor in the Underwater Mako reactor. Well, whos your team and approx stats and any noteworthy materia....

To defeat him you have to hit him in the chest region untill he's dead To dodge the arms you should get your whole part to run at him he will grab 2 of 3 the one that hasn't been grabbed should keep running and attack his chest with your best techniques. Or atleast thats how I did it.

Use Lightning based attacks.Watch out for Lapis Laser if you dont have a lot of health.

Well wouldnt it be better to find out his stats and what he has first?

Defeat one arm so he can only grab one person then just attack his chest area with your best attacks

Equip lightning materia and restore materia and wail away at the central body...ignore the arms, they'll die when the core is killed. Always try to keep your HP high, so that Lapis Laser doesn't wipe you out...and if you have the Enemy skill Mighty Guard, it comes in really handy.

I always priorize destroying his hands, that way you don´t need to
worry about them anymore. Then just whack away at the main body.

His Frankenstein-ish one, Limit Level 2. But as most have said, Restore + Lightning + Ramuh = Very good friends.

this boss was easy, I didn't use and techinque, just attack, attack, attack...

try having at least 2500 health to survive his laser and if you kill both of his arms he will only be able to attack you with lapis laser so make that mistake like i did .(fortunately tifa survived and lasted enough to use a limit brak to kill the thing.)so kill his grabbing arm first and then kill the middle carry armour.
