Up there along with "I'm Back" and "I'm Leaving" threads, I believe threads like this should be cast into the deepest pits of hell aswell. Why? Because thats what profiles are for.
Either that or delete all the profiles, or allow "I'm Back"/"I'm Leaving"/"I"m Raping My Dauther" threads, or bring back forum "b".

I don't see a problem with them. It presents information in an easily accessible way. Nobody seems to go through other peoples profiles to get thier AIM, MSN, etc. However, when it is put in a thread, people somehow notice. When I posted my MSN in that thread, three people contacted me in less than an hour. That would have never happened had that thread not existed.
Who wants to "talk" to people on the Internet anyway? They're all jerks.

Once in a while I think those threads are okay for the exact reason that nik has stated. Anyone who posts their address in those threads is openly asking to be IMed and this gives people that would be hesitant to do so otherwise, the opportunity to do so.
