Interesting idea, but I doubt any of the admins are willing to mod this board as it hinders any future technical support from vB.
When vB 3.5 comes out, we may be able to add new features like that as modules.

I believe the mod side of merging double posts quickly and easily will be in vB 3.5 anyway
You just think about it and it's done in vB 3.5.0.
