Just is the best song on The Bends, Planet Telex is right up there, and so is Sulk. Not that Street Spirit is bad or anything, but it's not head and shoulders above the rest.

I agree with Optium in that We Suck Young Blood would have rocked more if they did that, but there's a certain kind of quality the song gains from simply not doing what they were supposed to. It's not the best song, though, but it's still kinda cool.

I think eestlinc's response to Optium's The Bends question would be Sulk. Mine would be My Iron Lung.

    edit: Oh, well, hello eest.

My Iron Lung is also good. Sulk is awesome. If I ever had a band and did a Radiohead cover, it would be Sulk, partly because it's awesome and partly because they never play it anymore.

    The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony.
The Verve Pipe - The Freshmen.
They're both fabulous songs. Originally I thought the two were the same band, but I don't know if I could choose which of these songs I like better.

Sulk is probably my least favourite song from The Bends, although coming from such a good album that's hardly an insult. My Iron Lung is a great track, but I'd have to agree with foa and say that Street Spirit is the strongest song on the album, predictable choice though it may be.

However, while its far from my favourite Radiohead track, their 'masterpiece' is probably Paranoid Android. That song takes everything that's good about the band, brings it together and stretches it out over six and a half minutes. If I had to pick one song to sum them up, that'd be it.
"The most important and recognize player in the history of the country."

Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I were as great as Paulo Wanchope.

And because Paranoid Android was three songs to begin with.

The Bends is the wrong place to look for a Radiohead masterpiece. I'd either go with something on Ok Computer or Kid A.

Eh, I disagree there Yam, at least as far as Kid A goes. OK Computer I
can see, with Karma Police, Paranoid Android and Exit Music. The only
thing that's really close to masterpiece material on Kid A would be
the National Anthem in my opinion.

Mr. Bungle- "Disco Volante" (yes, the whole damn album), "Sweet Charity", "Retrovertigo", "The Air-Conditioned Nightmare", "Ars Moriendi"

Ozzy- "No More Tears", "Diary of a Madman"

    RHCP- "Under The Bridge"

Alice in Chains- "Man in the Box", "Heaven Beside You", "Godsmack"

Every other song I would consider has already been listed up here, so there's no point soing it again.

I disagree. Although the intro is a well-done progressive tinged clean guitar piece, the end of the song destroys it. The end of the song (I'm talking about the distorted 16th note triplets) sounds cheesy and forced.

Metallica's masterpiece is probably Orion, where the instruments display astounding lyricism.
