The gates opened once more, and Emeralda and the Summoner stepped onto the field.
"The next battle is between Emeralda and the Summoner! BEGIN!"
The summoner raised his hands, and a magic circle appeared on the ground, a massive demon of flame bursting forth and hurling itself at Emeralda.
"Aqua Dham," Emeralda said calmly, a torrent of water rushing forth and blasting the demon.
"Ifrit!" the Summoner yelled as the demon dematerialized before his eyes.
Emeralda's eyes narrowed and she rushed forward, her hands forming into spears. The Summoner raised his hand once again and this time, a massive sea serpent emerged, its fangs barred.
"Anemo Omega!" Emeralda yelled as she continued charging, bolts of lightning filling the sky and destroying the sea serpent within seconds.
The summoner stepped back and tried another spell, but Emeralda was too fast. Leaping into the air, she thrust one of her spear arms into his chest, cutting off his incantation and causing him to fall to the ground, only to be set upon by the Cleric and White Mage unit while the Black Mage and Wizard unit pulled Emeralda off him.

Benjamin pointed his sword at Squall.
"Fire!" he yelled, a gout of flame bursting forth and threatening to engulf Squall. Squall dodged to the side with ease and brought his gunblade into a guard position, his body glowing with a pale blue light.
Benjamin's blade crackled with lightning, and he thrust it into the air. "Thunder!"
Lightning shot into the sky and descended upon Squall, who made no attempt to dodge it. As it descended upon him, the figure of a beautiful maiden with pale blue skin and long, dark blue hair appeared, her arms draped protectively over Squall. The lightning bolt struck her in the back, but she didn't move at all, and vanished in the next instance.
Squall opened his eyes, which were now glowing with a pale blue light.
"Diamond Dust!" he yelled. The maiden once again appeared, her arms still wrapped around Squall. Straightening, she turned to face Benjamin, a ball of blue magic gathering in her hands. Releasing it, a torrent of ice burst forth, encasing Benjamin in ice. Lifting a delicate hand, the maiden snapped her fingers, and the ice shattered. Benjamin stood stock-still for a moment, before falling to the ground, unconcious.

The gates opened once more and the next two fighters stepped into the arena.
"Our next combatants are Sora and the Mithra Dark Knight! BEGIN!"
The Dark Knight raised her scythe and charged at Sora, slashing at him. Sora brought his keyblade out and blocked it, before jumping high into the air and gliding away.
"Gravira!" Sora yelled, magic shooting from his keyblade. A massive orb of dark energy surrounded the Dark Knight, pinning her to the ground.
"Aero!" Sora yelled again, this time surrounding himself with a shield of wind. Running in, he smacked the Dark Knight with the blunt end of his keyblade while the Dark Knight was pinned.
The Dark Knight grunted as she drew back, regaining the use of her limbs. Scowling, she raised her hand, sending out a cloud of poisonous fumes. Sora slashed at it with his keyblade, the blade glowing with magic. To the Dark Knight's surprise, the cloud was deflected upon her, engulfing her.
As the Dark Knight staggered backwards, Sora jumped forward and unleashed a chain of vicious attacks, knocking her to the ground. She struggled for a moment to rise, but found herself unable to do so.
