Go to a game store and ask if they can re-surface your disc. It's a cheap and effective way of restoring a damaged disc - virtually any scratches can be repaired this way. The only way your game is totally ruined is if the scratch is on the label side of the disc.
but its sometimes cheaper to get a new disk instead of fixing it.
