    better willy wonka poll???

Who does a better job at playing willy wonka according to the book and why???
I personally feel that johnny depp did a better job b/c he brought out the emotional side of willy that gene wilder just couldn't do...

Actually, while I preferred Depp's performance... You said according to the book. Depp didn't follow the book. Wilder wasn't as silly as the book's Wonka, but he would be closer.

I don't know who was more true to the book, but Depp wins for having the freakiest Wonka action figure.

That thing is going to attack me in my dreams.

LOLZ TEH JHONY DPEP IS TEH HOTTEI OMGOMGMGOM!!1!11one3

There was no need to remake the film, the original was already amazing, and Gene Wilder is so much greater than Johnny Depp in this film it's not even funny.

Agreed. I haven't actually seen it yet (I'm not sure if I'm going to), but the original was so fantastic, what was the point of remaking it? Gene Wilder was perfect. Much as I love Johnny Depp (xD)... why? Why did they bother? If the original was bad, I can see why they'd do it. But it wasn't. It was brilliant.

I haven't seen the new Willy Wonka film yet, but Gene Wilder was excellent in the original Willy Wonka film, being the only one I've seen so far, he remains the best Willy Wonka out in my opinion.

But I think it should be complusory to make all little kids who havent seen the original Willy Wonka to see it before they watch the new one. I think they'd miss out on so much if they didn't.

I think it should be compulsory that all little kids should have to book read to them or something. They'd also miss out on a lot if they didn't.
The book pwns the original. xD And it shall pwn the new film too! xD

I haven't seen the new one yet... and it come out in cinema's the day before I go on holiday.

Anyway, just as some random crap thrown in... Roald Dahl didn't like the original film... That says a lot for it, doesn't it? xD

Tim Burton, himself, is a wonderful producer (and movie genious!) and sadly enough, the previous director did what HE wanted to do with the film and Roald Dahl wasen't happy with it. I heard that he was much more impressed by this film and Johnny Depp has always been my personal fave actor Looking at the new film, it just put the old one to shame only because it wasen't what Roald Dahl wanted.
