Maybe they just lose the power to summon since there are no Aeons.

So my explaination is that summoner are still respected as a local village pastor/priest or whatever you call that send the dead to the other world.
But if they really lost every single power rather than summoning Aeons, then mine point isn't valid.
Then perhaps they shouldn't be called "Summoners" anymore, since their job description no longer entails summoning. "Sender" would work rather nicely...

The skill of Sending still exists. Like summoning, it's the power to manipulate spirit energy - it's not intimately connected to the Aeons or anything. Also, with Sin gone, there'll be far fewer people dying unclean deaths and lingering as Fiends.

Well I think that the reason they don't have any Summoners anymore is cause of course the calm after Sin. And seen its been two years now
in the begainning chapters New Yevon and Youth League did not get along and blam Yevon for all of that.
And once they got along after 1000 Words they still did not belive that Summoners would protect them anymore...??????? :confused:
