I'm glad I didn't see the Gene Wilder version because I thought this one was excellent and so was Johnny. Manson would have been very good for the role as well.

you know why johnny depp looks like michael jackson/woman? because he's smiling... think about every movie he's ever done... he NEVER smiles that big... he usually has a look of disdain or apathy on his face... cheery don't suit him well...
i agree, i think manson would have been good for the part. but they would have had to have re-written it to be a lot more dark... have the chocolate pool be blood instead... and he feeds all the children into a machine to add to this blood pool... but then again, after that, the movie would have been over.
