I have a hard time with making them look good, and it takes away from the completed pic.

Guys have their lesbian porn. Girls have their yaoi hentai. Though ... I'll just keep my mouth shut about that. I don't see this as very yaoi, and I'm thankful for that. Very awesome drawing. It sounded spur-of-the-moment. But it looks like its a lot more than that. Very well done.

Thank you for the compliment! ...polishing up on the hand factor is going to consume most of my time as I sketch...Personally, I'm not a fan of yaoi, or shonen-ai, but what you drew here is very good, I'll admit. For what it's worth, I think your hands are pretty good; polish up a little bit and they'd be really great.
The first word that came to mind was "Cute." It's just.....cute.

Your hands are generally fine. The right hand's middle finger (holding the lock of hair) looks like the tip's been snapped. The other fingers are also a little awkward. If you can just fix that, the whole piece would be perfect.
