I`ve been wondering ever since I passed the forgotten capital, because when in the forgotten capital there are these glowing stones and when investigated it says something like "Are these the words of the ancients? no good can`t underdstand it.....could someone tell me the significance of this?

It just serves to indicate that you're in an Ancient city. You can't take Aeris there to decipher what they are saying, anyways, since you can't get through the Sleeping Forest until she leaves your party.

Tifa and Cid have interesting reactions if you try to decipher those glyphs while that character is leading the team...

They seem to hint at some kind of side-quest, but they truly do nothing. I guess they're psychic recordings - remnants of literature or something left behind by the Ancients - which are just incomprehensible to humans.
