I don't know about the Sending scene, but Tidus was definitely taking a gander on the ferry from Besaid. He even used binoculars to get the biggest picture possible...

Joking aside, I liked the interaction between Lulu and Tidus, probably because she's my favourite character of the lot.

Technically they are polygons, not pixels.

Added Realism I guess. He was definitely looking at them on the cruise ship with the binoculars. Digital or not theyre still ginormous.
