Metal Gear Solid Raiden, not Mortal Kombat Raiden. And yah, you do have to go around naked as Raiden.

The real reason English-speaking people have so much contempt for Raiden is because of Quinton Flynn's voice acting. When it comes down to it, everyone would have been much more tolerant of the torso-axial jumps and the running around naked if Raiden had just sounded cooler.

There goes my answer. Seriously. As a character he wasn't all that bad, but he really just wasn't as awesome as Snake.

I dunno why yall are calling him a wuss/wimp...I thought he was TOTALLY badass... I mean... the guy can cartwheel... WITH NO HANDS! How can he NOT be badass? I LOVED playing as Raiden... it was a damn cool change of pace. He wasn't all 'GRRR!!! I'M SNAKE AND HARDCORE!!!!' I liked his rookie-ness. But really, it all comes down to the cartwheel... badass in so many ways. A lot cooler than rolling, at least. Then the guy gets a freakin NINJA SWORD! And slices fools up ninja style! While Snake is whimping around with a gun, Raiden just guts the baddies up close and personal! And he has to do all this while hallucinating up a mad storm! And that's not all... he fights like 20 billion Metal Gears AT THE SAME TIME!! How many has Snake taken on at once? AND to top it off, his girlfriend is frickin' hot as hell. Now, if you go to someone on the street and describe all this to him, I'm thinking the guy would be like... 'THAT GUY SOUNDS FRICKIN' CRAZY AWESOME!' And that's because HE IS!
