So whats wrong with Raiden?

Think about all the crap he went through in the game... and how he soldiered on regardless. Wimp? Don't be ridiculous. Sure he complained and protested about it, but he kept fighting anyway.

Compare his amount of “complaining” to that of Snake in the original MGS.

Anyway, I felt that Quinton Flynn (Isaaru in FFX)’s acting was just fine. Believeable, fluent, captured the emotions well.

But then, it seems customary to despise any translation of any Japanese game, so there’s probably not much else I can add – except that some Japanese voice-actos are pretty poor, too. In the trailers for MGS1, the Ninja sounds like a robot from a bad 60s sci-fi, and most of the other characters have nearly identical voices – except for Liquid and Raven, who’re distinguished by the fact that Liquid’s voice is about an octave deeper than Raven’s.

Not everybody’s going to like every actor. Big whoop. Like him or not, think he was suited to it or not, it’s hard to deny that Flynn gave a skilled performance as Raiden.

I guess it'd be more accurate to say that Quinton's acting isn't the real problem; it's his voice itself. There's something vaguely irritating about it. Nasal, maybe.

i think its funny when people call raiden a wimp and totally gay, when the fact is is that if raiden was real, he could kill you in 2 seconds flat and not even think twice about it. . and although raiden was whiny, you have to remember, HE FOUGHT 3 GIANT NUKLEAR EQUIPPED TANKS IN A ROW. id like to see anyone on this forum do that, all while not peeing there pants and crying. that being said, raiden is totally gay, and snake woops the pants off him and laughs at how wussy and homo raiden is.

And that’s what you get for playing on easy. When I played through on extreme he had to beat 20 Metal Gears in a row. And technically they're not Nuclear equipped, Ray is the only Metal Gear without Nuclear capabilities.

Raiden was a good character, just not as good as Snake.

Snake was a badass, battle-scarred, cigar smoking, grizzled war hero come ladies man. Raiden was the exact opposite. He was young, feminine, didn't really have many interesting traits to distinguish him from others in that mould, and was in a serious relationship. For everyone who loved MGS for the oppotunity to be a badass like Snake, Raiden was like a watered down beer afterwards.

I didn't mind Raiden, I thought he was an alright character. It was Rose who annoyed me with her incessant ramblings about the most irrelevant crap.

Raiden has a girlfriend. Snake does not and hangs around with men with high pitched voices. Snake is obsessed with Gray Fox (man)

I liked Raiden, he did just as much as Snake did in MGS, and then went one further with the HF Blade, taking on 24 Metal Gear Rays, three at a time. Sure, he didn't have the other Metal Gear's behind him, but he was still a good character, and I quite hope for more expansion on his character in MGS4.

And the whole aerial cartwheel while holding a gun.

It's odd that people called Raidan "clueless" after Snake's "A Security camera"! shout and Big Boss repeating everything that people said to him in MGS3 (Virtous mission?) The sword and cartwheeling add +10 awesomeness. What I really hated was Rose.

The security camera comment was due to the fact Snake hadn't encountered any cameras in previous Metal Gear games.

Snake is just as surprised as the player should be.
