Do the readable files on the MGS game not describe the events that take place in the NES games? Is not the ninja in MGS not the friend who was left to die at the end of Metal Gear II: Snake's Revenge.

While I haven't played all the way through Snakes Revenge, I think I remember the game leading you to believe that's who the ninja is. It always seemed to me that those readable files were previous missions that Snake had gone on before the mission in MGS and those files describe the NES missions.

I'm not sure what MG (MSX) or MG2 mean if they don't stand for the NES games.

I tried to play Metal Gear on NES once and some dogs killed me so I quit. True story.

In MGS, when Snake exclaims "a surveilance camera!?", I reckon it's pretty safe to assume this is just a heads-up to the player - so that the player knows what to look for. Kinda like when Big Boss is getting shot up in MGS3, and Para-Medic calls him to report that he's badly wounded. It's something that'd be plainly obvious in real life; but in a game's limited representation of reality, it sometimes takes more to get the point across.

    Other examples include:
*Snake getting reminded how to fire a gun
*Ocelot describing how to resist torture ("Press the circle button repeatedly...")
*Para-Medic explaining how to eat food

Snakes Revenge was developed by a completly different team and holds no place in the Metal Gear story line.

Metal Gear WAS released on the NES but Metal Gear 2 wasn't. And the NES version of the original got a little messed up (Metal Gear is the blue screen of death?).

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 were released on the MSX (a popular console in eastern countrys that was virtualy unknown over here)

MGS3: Subsistence is going to include both MG2 and the MSX version of MG, so you can set yourself straight when it's released.

Still, you have to love the hammy, melodramatic way he says it. Could have just muttered "Hey it's a camera, I should watch out" But he stands up and shouts at the evil contraption like it's Agent Smith. You half expect a guard to whip around and say, "Hey Johnny check out this imbecile"!
"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here this is the War room"

He´s a young kid and doesn´t know what he´s doing. IE when you have to escort Emma at the "mine pipes", Raiden asks what to do. I guess everyone figured that maybe you could use a sniper rifle but no, Raiden has to call Snake...

I think that was pretty clearly to explain what to do to the player. Snake had to be told to find a sniper rifle in 1 and 3 in the exact same way.

I thought mgs2 was pretty poor compared to mgs and mgs3, i dont know whether thats because the main character wasnt called snake in mgs2, or whether mgs2 had a completely out of porportion extremely complicated storyline OR because mgs2 lacked a cool kickass female support character... anyway... i like raiden hair (oh ive just realised he looks like kadaj from AC) im goin way off topic so i'll stop now

    OMGZ IM BACK!1!!11!

It had Olga. I preferred Olga and Eva to Meryl.

The end of MGS3 was just as confusing as MGS2.

MGS2's plot is weak because it's a deliberate re-hash of MGS. They invented a convenient excuse - (SPOILER)the Patriots' S3 plan - which let them stage similar events in a similar environment. Kinda sad, but still a great game.

MGS2 was about as similar to MGS1 as MGS3. The Cobras all seemed much more like Fox hound than dead cell like The end=Sniper Wolf, The sorrow= Psycho Mantis. It just seems unfair to suggest that as MGS2s flaw when as far as I can see theyve all done it to an extent and if I had to make a statement Id say MGS3 and 1 were more similar than MGS2 to either of them. The Patriots were just as much MGS3 as they were MGS2.

It's not like they included all that MGS1 stuff in MGS2 out of a lack of creativity and then just made up the S3 Plan--you know, the entire backbone of the story--as an excuse for it.
