i will break it down to for you:
FFI-VI: never played, but horrible graphics, so it will not tempt me.
FFVII: badass game, one of best ever made.
FFVIII: plain ol' stupid imo.
FFIX: good game, but FFVII beats it by a bit.
FFX: great game, just wasnt as classic like other FF's. kind of "fake" in other words. still really liked the game nonetheless.
FFX-2: f'ing horrible game. bad story, bad characters, bad skill system. i couldnt stand it.
FFXI: not worth my time even trying...
FFXII: ???
Kingdom Hearts: ok, but way too easy. plus a bit childish now that i think back on it. had a good story, with a childish tone, which is why i dont play it anymore. the game doesnt even swear once...
Chrono Trigger: one of THE BEST rpg's EVER made. if you did not like this game, you have not truley played a good rpg.
Chrono Cross: another very awesome game, one of the best games i have played.
so now that i think about it, it goes in this order of my favorite one:
1.) FFVII
2.) Chrono Trigger
3.) Chrono Cross
4.) FFIX
5.) FFX

Don't make me chose what my favorite RPG is. I'm going to say a tie between FFVII and Disgaea.
EDIT: I chose Disgaea over VII.

that's friggin hilarious, you say FFI-FFVI have horrible graphics then say Chrono Trigger is one the best ever made, dude, same graphic era as FFIV-FFVI. I agree CT is great, but play them before counting them out

And this is exactly why many of us deride the younger generation of gamers. Judging a game on graphics alone is foolhardy, at best. Many of the older Final Fantasy games were excellent, and dismissing them because of their graphics is hardly a wise decision.FFI-VI: never played, but horrible graphics, so it will not tempt me.
i agree. to be perfectly honest older games were better because instead of spending all their time on graphics they spent it on a long lost part of the game called the story. games with low graphics had the best storys and gameplay which in turn made them much more fun.

Im going to go with Xenogears.
I like Final Fantasy VIII and Tales of Symphonia as my favorite RPGs.
Final Fantasy VII > all. Or suikoden. Guild Wars if it counts

Of course, as DJZen so harmlessly pointed-out, Earthbound is an incredible rpg for those who can actually withstand it.
And then again, so is FF6, 8, 9, 10, CT......
