when i go into the supermarket. if i see a hoice between american bananas or african ones i will buy the african ones. even if they are more expensive. same with other food; oranges, sugar, meat, chocolate. if it is fair trade (alot of stuff is now a days) then even better. american and eu farmers are given subsidies. these gurantee prices for what they grow. sold or not. if it doesn't sell the government buys it. so not buying these goods doesn't affect the farmers. it does though help african farmers.
