my friend got so mad when i said this but personally i think that the graphics of ff9 during the fmv sequences has far surpassed the quality of all ps1 and most ps2 games graphics, anyone agree, or am i insane?

I'd have to say that the graphics are better than ps1, but only some ps2 games.

you're insane, but right at the same time my favorite graphics are FFIX and FFX2, but i only say FFX2 because of the beginning. that Real Emotion FMV is pretty much kick ass

it was good, but a little cartoonish. but wuddaya expect, it was a cartoonish game. it wasn't focusing on being realistic at all, which some people enjoy more than realism. but that's just some. i prefer the realistic style, like ff viii, but everyones got their opinions. you can't say any of these things for a fact.

    Thank you Hysterian!

The graphics in FFVIII FMV's are nice, but they are still dodgy a bit. FFIX FMV's are pure bliss! They don't surpass all PS2 games, but they do for some of the earlier PS2 games. I'd say that your border line crazy and insane.....which makes you passionate! ^^ CHEERS! HUZZAH!

Hai, FF9's graphics sure surpassed SOME Ps2 games and Ps1 games! It's really sweet, as you could really see them moving. I like FF8's graphics, too, but I surely think FF9 is better, but yes, it is a bit cartoonish than realistic but that's what keeps it original in the FF game. =)

it has only surpassed most PS graphics. and thats only speaking of the fmv's. look at the fmv's on X. X is far better than IX.

But the FFX characters look too human. Seems to me you're judging by how many strands of hair individually float in the breeze, rather than the originality.

FFIX was unique in its combination of cutesy animé stylee looks with CGI 3D. That was quite daring at the time, and the only decent Anime/3D-style game of recent years - after FFIX - was Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in the US).

Anybody remember the in-game graphics/FMV crossover near the end (when Zidane's looking for Kuja's body)? That was genius, the way ingame graphics were effortlessly combined with the FMV sequence. I take off my many hats to you, Square.
