Metroid and nothing else. It was the only series that didn't turn gay and get over complicated, with descendants and ancestors (Zelda) and new models (Megaman aargh) and Selphie (). Just a bounty huntress, her awesome battle suit, and some space pirates just begging to be mercilessly slaughtered by your power beam.

In any event, I do like Final Fantasy, so it's probably one of my favorites, and I enjoy the Xeno series. I really do wish they had made all of the Xenogears games, that was a wonderful game that deserved to be made in full.
The Zone of the Enders series is a great series as well. Baldur's Gate has always been enjoyable, and I recall many a wasted summer on BGII.
I'm sure there are more to list, but I'm too lazy to do so.
Actually, FF7 was pretty gay in literal terms.
