    Default spoilers

i personall think that the policy on spoilers should be made universal. what i mean by that is that it should not matter what age the game/film/book is. if i had only just started playing ff7 now then i read a thresd with spoilers which aren't hidden and posted everywhere the game is ruined. it doesn't matter what age the thing is. it's new to me. i may have only just got it or about to see it. storylines should be timeless and this applies for the spoilers too.

What are you doing in the FFVII forum if you dont want it spoiled? Seems pretty easy to avoid to me.

Pretty much. If the thread says 'Legend of Dragoon', and you havent finished Legend of Dragoon yet, dont go in it. And if it isnt properly labeled, the first post will tell you what game it's about.

Because you've had plenty of time to find out if it's old. If you cared that much about what happened in, say, Harry Potter, you'd know after 3 years.

"Because you've had plenty of time to find out if it's old." but you don't want to find out. and if you have avoided finding out and are still in the dark then that should be respected.

If you don't want to know any spoilers for an old game you haven't finished, then just fricking avoid the threads, or don't even bother caring about spoilers. I got spoiled knowing the *OMFG* "huge" spoiler in FFVII and I haven't even finished the game. Not that I really care anyway... Though, a lot of people do get upset when a more recent game/movie/book gets spoiled, not on the older stuff.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

Then dont go in threads about that subject. I dont see why that's so difficult.

The majority of people who wish to discuss the plot of a game/book/movie/whatever that is three or more years old are likely to have played/read/seen it, and I can't see the point in catering for a minority at the expense of a majority.

to most people it is. and in an ff forum that could be expected.

but lets take a recent example. the mgs threads that have popped up like weeds. a few weeks ago i didn't know about the fox die thing in mgs1. it was a pretty big thing in the game. but if i had started playing the game this week then it would have all been ruined.
