I'd have to go with a cutlass, myself. Not exactly a powerhouse, but agile, versatile, adaptive and capable of excelling in situations where nothing else could work. Also, pirates use them, and that's cool.

I'd go with a Gladius. Big enough to get the job done, but not as to show off. Quick, agile, and with good power, but not so unwieldy that it becomes akward. Good for offense, defense, and stealth.
