FFVIII movie . . . ?

I was wondering, why Square Enix make FFVII Advent Children movie instead of FFVIII Movie?

Does it mean that FFVII is better than FFVIII in Square Enix point of view?

Where would the go from VIII? Everything was wrapped up at the end, there was no more story. VII was open-ended.

Plus, yes VII is better from SE's point of view, because VII sold an enormous amount of copies.

i agree with the abominatrix. everything she said was right. i personally enjoyed ffvii more than ffviii and i would imagine it would be easier to make a movie out of ffvii rather than ffviii for many reasons.

I agree... While I really enjoyed FFVIII ... a sequel to VII is much more interesting... even with DoC, Vincent was tons cooler than Zell, Irvine or Seifer.....

I got the same feeling from FF:TSW that I did from FF8. I think the makers were of the same mindset. It seemed more... political isn't really the word, but it was more about the powers that be I suppose. I can't really explain it. But to me, TSW seemed like a movie with the same mindset as 8. So I already got that. But yeah, 7 was more critically acclaimed and open-ended. And despite the amount it sold or the reviews it got, the fans are being heard and I think that's the biggest part. I honestly don't know if they were doing anything before they got started on X-2. If they weren't, then the outcry that came when word of X-2 spread was enough motive. People wanted FF7-2. That's what they're trying to give them. There's just not a demand for anything more from any of the others.

FFVIII wasn't nearly as successful as FFVII. Again, 7's ending was open for more, while 8 had everything wrapped up.

ffviii should have a movie. i'd definitely be interested in it. but i think it would be way harder to make. as everybody is saying ffviii had everything wrapped up from beginning to end, nothing to hang on to. Of course, movie makers could certainly come up with a new plot for a movie, but not as easy and interesting as ffvii advent children. ff7 AC actually fits into the original ffvii plot somewhat, so the movie designers for an ffviii movie would have to add something that was never mentioned or anything to the game, and would make up something that would fit the movie to the game. as to how far their imaginations go, i have no idea, but their only other choice is to make an irrelevant plot line that has nothing to do with the game... they would just happen to use the same characters with a completely random crisis on their hands. it'd be interesting

i'm sure they could do it. ffvii AC was very well made, so they could at LEAST make something decent out of ffviii, it would just be harder. maybe they could add some variety and make a sorcerER instead of a sorceress because that's all there were in ffviii.
or to add even MORE variety, have a cross over between ffvii and ffviii. i WOULD say they could add in ffix in there but they can't because the animation and designs are just so much different. there would be cloud, then squall then tiny, big headed zidane with a tail. how bizarre would that be, but funny

Both were good. No need to have a baby if someone says that. Reason for VII having a movie is becos it did better and the fact that the end was open. But in saying that, I (and many others) thought X's ending was wrapped up but then along came 10-2.......
Oh and i dont agree with making a movie out of VIII. A movie would be like making a remake and as ive stated a thousand times in other threads, i hate remakes. If they tried to remake my favorite final fantasy.....i just dunno what i'd do. Plus if they made a movie out of it it would basically be exactly the same anyhow apart from the obvious fact that it wouldnt be playable (unless you count pushing the buttons on the dvd remote being playable )
