Zooooms in grabbing rings kicking robots butts saying somethimg like " shocking!" as they blew to smitherines around him...
Sonic wins by far... he dosent make pizza for a livin, hes not fat and he dusent wear blue and red overals..... hes just natrualy got blue skin.... and red sneakers!!!
Well, I clicked Sonic. But in reading through I've changed my mind to Mario. Both of the franchises were in their prime a few years back.
Back then, I got so much more fun out of Mario 3, and Super Mario. I also completely worshipped Yoshi's Island.
I liked the Sonic games, but really only played 1 and 2. I briefly played Sonic and Knuckles, but never tried 3.

Mario all the way. Okay Sonic is a cool dude, and Mario is a plummer, but let's face it, Sonic is very repetative, you don't have to do much, just let Sonic do all the running and that's it. Mario is more of a challenge, and it's got more to it. Mario wins!
If you're talking about the advance games or the 3D games I agree.
However, if you're talking about the Mega Drive/Genesis (or god forbid Sonic CD) then you are a fool.

As far as the games go, Mario wins it. As far as the individual characters are concerned, Sonic is cooler. Fast is fun what can I say.
And for the record, Sunshine was fun, but it wasn't as good as Mario 64. I mean, heck, Mario 64 had more levels and more variety than Sunshine, and I didn't like losing the long jump for that slow and rather boring hover feature. Sunshine was also a little too linear if you ask me. Fun none the less, but a definite step back for the series.
Mario's way overrated, Sonic is underrated. Period!

I voted sonic, as I don't even count anything post dreamcast as sonic.

Sonic fast, hes cool. Mario is just boring, he cant go fast because he had to lug around all that weight.
Though Sonic Heroes was a deffinate let down, there going to make up for it with the "Shadow The Hedghog" game.
There even a flash movie where Sonic kicks marios ass.

If you think Sonic 3 goes under the category of "sucky games" you've got an absolutely horrible taste in video games.
Also, Mario's better off without that "water jet-pack thingy".
Oh, and my vote goes to Mario, by the way. Even though Sonic 3 once was my fav game in the entire world, it's still beaten by SMRPG and SM64. And the Mario games in general are just more fun than the Sonic games.
