So - do you think people buy into what they read on the internet too much these days?

Yeah. People are gullible. Most of them probably didn't even look at the link. It wasn't even cnn.com.
That trick has been pulled before, and people belived it every time. Really makes you lose faith in humanity, eh?

I'll admit I was confused when I saw the CNN logo at the top of the page but by the time Id finished reading it, It was obviously a joke.
this was posted before in another forum i was going "what the hell is going on?" the way it had put one or 2 things in is what gave it away

I'm sure everyone's heard about the original radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. I used to think people couldn't be so gullable as to believe that a fake news broadcast, or article could be real again, but stuff like this, how fast it spreads over the internet, and how slow people are to realize it's fake, or to listen to people telling them it's fake kind of shakes my confidence in mankind. I'd say the majority of people who fell for this article never actually read it, never made it past the first paragraph, or looked at the URL, and thought that they could actually trust people on the internet have their facts straight.
The fact that anyone could have fallen for that is a sign that the human race is quickly coming to an end. We won't be able to survive much longer with amoeba-like intelligence.
