Yep I can't wait for this to come out my favorite character is Kilik, but I don't like how this kilik looks so I'll go with Nightmare
Oh and Necrid got the boot he won't be in SCIII and despite the rumors neither will Dante but I bet most of you knew that. I liked the GC SCII and it actually sold the most copies. I use Mitsurugi myself I pwn all with him I also use Link, Kilik, Nightmare, amd Cervantes but mostly Mitsurugi and my little brother uses Nightmare. This game looks like it'll be a must-buy and I will pick it up. The character creation looks really cool and I'll probably love messing with it. SCII is my favorite fighter actually and from the looks of it this'll surpass it.
Casandra is looking sweet...
I feel like the character customisation is gonna make the main selection of character useless. If you can design your perfect characters, then you would have no desire to play with the original characters.....
I would of prefered it if a larger bunch of newer characters were brought in...maybe 5. And the Character Customisation is dropped. And with an Online mode would be Awsome+. I would like to see people trying to beat me when Im with Casandra....

GC version definitely sold the most copies
I used Cervantes, Ivy, Yunsung, Kilik, Talim, Link mainly, but I can use a lot of the characters pretty well. But Cervantes, Talim and Link, I've beaten people with my feet using a GC controller so yeah!
THE JACKEL
I realise lots of people use Talim. It's why I hate it. She's definitely the best character in the game with an above average number of mix-ups, the best speed, power of ring out that is only bested by Nightmare. Back in the days of B.T.5. (before Tekken 5), the city arcade was filled with SC2 players, a whole variety of 'em as well. From your popular Talim to your not so popular Yoshimitsu. These days, however, everyone that hasn't converted uses Talim. It's a little bemusing because Cassandra's strength is to avoid, GI, block until an opportunity for some 236B (quarter circle forward, B) arises. In that respect, she's a counter-attacker, making her no good for characters like Talim, Taki or Maxi. My other characters, Nightmare, Ivy, Cervantes are all pretty useless against her as well (though Ivy and Cervantes, I might be able to piece together a win if the other Talim's rather predictable). So I pretty much HAVE to use Kilik for Talim, but restrict myself to quicker moves and be a little lucky with the GI.Originally Posted by PrincessYuna

(if you live in Sydney, for the love of god, come back to SC2! I miss you all!)
I'm sorry you hate Talim so much... I dunno about where you live, but when back when I played SC2 at the arcades (I've since moved and nobody plays here...), it was hard finding a good Talim player... Most people I've played use Mitsu... But anyway, Talim's weakness is her poor range and she flies all over the place when she gets hit... Her little stubby arms also means that she has to get right up in someone's face the do a throw... when I play... I usually have to find an opening and then exploit it... if I'm in and I lose my rhythm, I get screwed since Talim takes a beating pretty easily... I usually have to back out, GI, or get all dodgy to get back in. I love her little grab/swing thing. It works pretty well to confuse some people, and I use it a lot to try and swing things back in my favor. Ahhh... I miss that game... I wish I could find someone to play... my skills have gotten majorly rusty, no doubt.
Anyway, back to SCIII... I find it very odd that Namco is taking this game in more of a single player direction... releasing it on console first, the create-a-character, wealth of single player modes, and lack of online is just wierd. Nobody plays the single player modes of fighting games except to unlock crap. It's no fun beating on a lifeless AI opponent. I really wish they'd put online on this game... that way, I could play all yall who live in other parts of the world! Of course... there's always lag to think about.. .and lag in a fighter is totally killer.

Definitely got to own this game, not only do I dig the fighting engine but the only other games I've ever seen where you can create your own fighter are Fighter Maker and Deadly Arts.

Yeah, I don't think the created character will be perfect. They'll look exactly as you'd imagine them to be perfect, but you wouldn't necessary prefer them anymore than you'd prefer some character from a previous title. People will still want to play as other characters, if only to view the endings. Chakram-wielding Tira, Scythe-slash Zasalamel, and Setsuka's Iai-brella look like cool enough additions to me. Character creation is only icing on a fine already delicious cake.Originally Posted by gibbi8
Character creation is going to cater more toward the crowd that prefers to play their games solo. Fighting games tend to get really stale in single player mode, so character creation will be a lot of fun. Plus, it's fun to mess around and battle your friend's creation against your own (hopefully there's some sort of 'import' feature). But as for the those who like to be competitive and go to tournaments and such, there's really no reason to use character creation besides to mess around and take a look. There's no way that custom characters will be allowed in tournies besides maybe something like a 'Custom Chara Tourney', but for those who play competitively in the arcades and such, using the existing characters will be where it's at. I'm not saying chara creation isn't cool or anything, because it definitely is. I'm just saying there are too many variables up in the air to have a hardcore competitive tourney with custom characters.
I'm really hoping all this single player stuff won't distract Namco from still delivering a solid, improved, Soul Calibur engine.

Yeah, I'm sure they could do that in an arcade version. Konami used it for Dance Dance Revolution, there's no reason Namco couldn't use it here.Originally Posted by BatChao
Also, I find that custom characters are a lot more fun with other players involved. Sort of a "so this is what I did, what do you do? COOL!" My friend Tracy and I used to do nothing with wrestling games besides the create-a-wrestler function. It got to the point where we were so into each others creations that we titled it our own federation. I suspect this feature will lead to much the same thing. We'll probably use many of the same characters FOR THE MOST INSANE CROSSOVER BATTLE OF THE CENTURY!!!! Are you ready to fight? SWF vs. Soul Calibur!!!! FIGHT OF THE MILLENIUM DREAM MATCH BATTLE!!!
