Thread: Metal Gear Solid : Sons of Liberty

Default Metal Gear Solid : Sons of Liberty

I have had this game for awhile but never really got it started though. But I am thinking about starting it up as I have heard it was really good.

I bought it even though I am not really into shooter types of games but got it anyway because they said the story was really good. But I never really got into getting started with it.

Anyway but what I want to ask is is it kind of a necessity to have a game guide or a walkthrough while playing through it. Or can you play through it pretty easily without a game guide.

    ...

No game has a guide as a necessity unless you're brain-dead or hopeless at games, and if you're that bad, why are you even playing games in the first place?

Just play it normally, it'll all unfold in a simple enough way for you.

Yeah, you'll be fine with Metal Gear games. I'm not normally into shooters either, but it's loads of fun; even if you don't like the gameplay element of it (I don't see how, thuogh) the story will more than make up for it. So give it a go already. >=D

Though its probably best to start with MGS1... But I liked MGS2. And I'm not into those games either. Splinter Cell and such don't really interest me.

The only part of the game that I think you need a guide when you play through it the first time is disarming the C4s.

Even then, it's not too hard. Just use your imagination, and you'll find them, alright.

    And MGS2 is awesome.

Try finding the C4s... in hard mode.

It was a pain in the ass trying to find the C4 in Strut E (the strut with the conveyer belt on it).

I still suggest MGS1 first. They don't explain things like using Snake's cigs to reveal lasers in MGS2 'cause they assume you already know it. Not that stuff like that matters much, considering the beginning.

    Yeah, I definitely wouldn't play MGS2 before playing MGS1.

But I think it's okay to start with MGS3 seings as it is a prequel.
But, no you'll be fine on your own. Those games are extreamly self-explanatory and infinately fun too.

Start with MGS1, because the story in MGS2 mentions a lot of things from MGS1, which you may not understand. I would buy MGS2: substance, not Sons of liberty, because Substance is Sons of liberty with loads of extras, like Snake Tales and VR missions!

I wouldnt start with MGS3, because the stelth is totally different compared to MGS1 and 2's stelth.

I have a MGS forum, but it does contain a lot of (SPOILER)spoliers!!!!

The gameplay takes a while to get used to, but eventually you'll get it and it will be a breeze. Happened to me every time I played a MGS. Oh, and you really should play part 1 first.

actually I have played part 1 ( or at least watched all the story scenes while my brother was playing) so I think I probably have the gist of part 1.

the only time you really need the guide is on hard mode and thats just so you know where things are *is stuck on shell 1-2 connecting bridge*

I actually dont recommend playing MGS 3 before 1 and 2 at all. It just seems like it would totally take some of the dramatic-ness of it. Or something.
