A mile form a tornado....
On August 12th 2005 4:52 pm a tornado touched down a mile away from Wright Wyoming. It hit a tralier park. More than 80 homes at the trailer park were damaged to the point they are uninhabitable. Dozens of other homes sustained less severe damage. Etienne Iriberry Sr., 53, was killed after his home was hit, and Connie L. Allen, 97, died later at a hospital. About a dozen people were injured. It reached a quarter mile wide. They say in 3 mins i say 30 seconds. They also say they wern't givin 5 mins when the sirens went off anf when it hit. Again i say not even that.
I live about 9 miles northeast of this small coal mining town(pop.: bout 1,500). My mother and I were in the small grocrey store when right as she paid the lights started to flicker and the power went out. We went to our car and saw poeple pointing but thought nothing of it. We started off back toward the highway to make our way home when we were about a half a mile away we heard the sirens. My mom was sure that was a tornado siren but we look around and we didn't see anything. So my mom pulled into the little tavern parking lot when i see it out of the back window. They said 5 mins warning that is wong. from when the sirens went off and when we saw it there was mabye a minute. It was only a sliver of a thing but it was growing fast. Withen 30 seconds it was big. The Tornado reach the size of F2 as the scales say. (Category F2-- Significant Tornado Category 112 - 157 mph)
We saw the first house's hit and decided not to stay. My mom put that mustang in gear and we were goigna 80 toward our house. We had to slow down because all of the sudden likea wall hail the size of quarters hit. There were so many that you could barely see. We had our chocie hail or tornado we choose hail. We got home safe but i can't say the same for the people who's houses were thrown across the highway. My family is trying all we can do to help those who have lost thier homes. If we stayed in that store a little longer we could of been hurt.
I just thought you'd like to know that one of your EoFFers had a close call with a tornado. i'd just like to say, A mile from a tornado is way too close for comfort.
