Because it was the sequel to Chrono Trigger, Which was a Snes game and most gaming companies (Well japanese ones anyway-aka.Square )didnt bother porting any games to Europe until the Playstation came out (and the reason they started then was because of the huge demand for FFVII) Thats why.
