    Default Den of Woe

What sort of preperations should I make, levels DS, abilities and accesories. Also, if I put the girls into a DS with low HP, do they have a lower HP when I fight them?

No, they are rather fixed. Rikku goes in thief mode and Paine in warrior mode anyway. As for other preparations, if you like your blue mage to be 'fully loaded'you should bring her along, as both Baralai and Gippal have blue magics. (Baralai you might have acquired before, Gippal's is the only chance now)

Also, you might make sure that either one or more of your character has more than 5000 HP, at least during the fifth battle, or toss around auto life. There is ONE attack there that hits very hard, and IIRC shell and protect don't help. Crystal bangle can be handy, or the berzerker's Howl.

Might also want to buy some echo screens, as the fist two enemies after you fight the other girls like to silence you. Also, don't rely on magic too much, as it's likely that you'll lose all your MP points pretty fast in the first battle. An alchemist is handy, or perhaps as I did, a white mage with Ragnarok.

Have you gone deeper in the Via Infinito (or something) in Bevelle?IIRC, there's a sphere on the twentieth level.

You can get to level 20 of the Via Infinito without too bad fighting. The boss of level 20 would be a challenge, but doable, and all other monsters up till then are pushovers, except the tonberries, and even they aren't TOO bad.
