Price of?

Dad is wondering what people would pay for a computer he recently acquired. I do not know yet whether he plans to sell it with windows installed or if it will be wiped(prolly wiped).

anyways what would you pay for this:

Gigabyte RZ Series VIA motherboard(link)
Intel Celeron 1.8GHZ processor
2 Gigabytes of RAM
ATI 9600LE Radeon Series
C-Media AC97 Audio Device
DVD RW CD RW drive
(2) 200 GB harddrive
floppy drive(3.5inch)
500watt power supply(15A/40A/19A)

As far as I know the case works perfect(the front temp display thing isn't connected.. and I haven't yet connected it.. so it is possible there is a problem there.. but all else has worked. Really fancy.. some power cords have lights.. made to make them look like snake skin. Heh.



Yeah dad is curious on the price it would bring. Oh yes, I prolly forgot to mention something so ask if there is anything else you would need to know.

The CPU and GPU are holding is back from being a killer box. What kind of RAM is it using?

I'd guess anywhere between $900-$1200. Of course this is if it's brand new.

The chips are unlabeled(from what I have seen.. but I haven't gutted the thing yet).

However there are only two chips. they add up to 2gb of ram(or more since this mobo only supports 2gb of ram). From what I know of RAM(not a lot but a bit) I would guess they are 1GB DDR pc3200 chips.


I told my dad it was the processor that killed the box.. The memory is quite nice I think. And the Graphics whilst not greatest aren't as bad as many I have seen. Anyways I told him my guess would be 800-900$. And that was if we are lucky. (ain't a new comp after all.. though I can make it look in tip top shape real easy).

edit- Oh yes I think it is 184pin RAM. Though As I said I haven't gutted it yet.

Dad was wondering also if overclocking it(and keeping it cool) could bring the price up?

As Yams mentioned, the CPU is not exceptionally powerful. Also, a motherboard with a VIA chipset <<< with an Intel Chipset.

However, the harddrive storage and RAM certainly will keep the price favorable.

Oh, and don't bother overclocking a celeron.
