Keh, there's a simple formula for those things.

If the character's parent game has the words "Final Fantasy", "VII", "VIII" , "X", or a combination of any, they will win.

In the event both characters are from a combination of the two, precidence goes as follows:

1. Final Fantasy VII
2. Final Fantasy X
3. Final Fantasy VIII

You don't need to worry about any of the others, unless you see Kefka, who is trumped only by Sephiroth.

yeah, as i was saying, vincent would be useless when it would come to fighting dante.

while dante is teleporting everywhere with his quick silver slashing around agni and rudra, shooting his ebony and ivory, vincent is waiting for his atb metre to fill .

dante is my faveorite because he was in a better story (devil may cry 3 over ffvii anyday) and also because he has so many weapons and skills (wall running, summoning, deflecting etc...).

vincent was blockful while dante was a little more realistic.
vincent couldnt do action scenes cuz he sucks... blood... (dante could suck blood if he wanted to).
and well, action scene dante wise speak for themselves.

Vincent only fires once per turn despite having unlimited ammunition

Well, well. Vincent has many more transformations that Dante (and given that FF7 was limited, he probably has even more than we currently are aware of, "imagine that")

hmmmmmmmmmm.........they both got red coats......but one has cool azz weapons........Dante Totally.......i mean the opening to Devil May Cry 3 was totally KICK AZZ!!! But i gotta say my all time Fav Game Char still sticks with a tie with Gorden Freeman(Half-Life 2) Master Chief(Halo 2) and Auron (FFX....Duh)

It's undeniable if you watch the FMVs.

But, I also like Dante better, so he gets my vote.

If you've seen the fmv's of dirge of cerberus Vincent looks just as likely to win.

What little gameplay Ive seen of it (because little gameplay has been shown) it looks to have more RPGish themes to it than dmc.

Dante gets plenty of transformations anyway.

Ifrit, Alastor and Sparda DT in DMC.
Rebellion, Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, Nevan and Beowulf DT in DMC3.

That's fire, lightning, darkness, yet more darkness, ice, more fire as well as wind, yet more lightning and light in total.

And he can fly as Alastor and Nevan~
