Final fantasy X taking name idea's with a few modifications

So I once read in my school Social Studies text book that there was some place called Sanarkand. So bassically square took it from there and made one or two (Most likely one) modification's to it. As shown here..

But I also saw something else that was taken from historical features. But at the moment I can't remember it...

Anyways, I was just saying the FF games reference the Star Wars movies. You know, Biggs and Wedge and stuff.

If you took away everything that made Star Wars kickass, then Final Fantasy might be better. Maybe. There was also Necron's final quote, and probably other allusions I've missed.
