No, it doesn't. Rain is fresh water. That gives them something to drink. Given that some just went three, four days without any water, this is the absolute best thing which could happen. Fresh water for the entire city and beyond.

The water is still rising though, and rain dampens (get it ) rescue efforts. Its kinda a mixed blessing to some. On the cover of the pioneer press, (my local city paper) there is a picture of some people stuck on a free way. with "Help, water still rising" and the water has like another foot to go before it takes em. This was a pretty powerful picture imo.

I do agree that they need the fresh water, but when your about to drowned (in your mind) it may be the last thing you will want to see

(You're making puns about this sort of situation?)

Good point. While the rain may be helpful, psychological ramifications should be taken into account.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

True. I shouldn't do that. Sorry. I wrote it then thought about it, and did that to clarify that it wasn;t ment to mean "get the situation wetter", but to "work against efforts"

My bad Truely sorry. Its not somthing to joke about. That is just my nature to try and keep situations light. Defence mechanism I guess. I just keep faith; and try to keep things light so that I can keep my broad prespective on things. Things always look better from further away; right?

Again, sorry, I know this is a hard time, and I should most definatley not make jokes or puns against it.

Just to get the word out, there are many organizations and both demonination and non-denominational ministries who are training people for emergency volunteer work. At this point in time, volunteers aren't yet welcome because of the insanely high levels of personal danger, but if you are trained you can rest assured you will be sent at some point. I know many of you are too young, or far too busy with your own lives for something like this, I know I myself am, but if there's even a chance someone wants to help, is able to help and just doesn't know how, that's what this post is for. Get in touch with local churches, missionaries, and any other private volunteer services to see what you can do.

Also, if you're able, consider donating blood. That'll be a necessity before too long, and it's not at all a difficult thing to do.

    Signature by rubah. I think.

Unlike 3rd world countries, I don't think America NEEDS immediate outside help. There are countries, like Canada, Ireland, UK, Spain & Italy with others who have already pledged anything America needs, but America isn't asking right now, that's the difference.
so true. But really, this is not the time to debate politics. hopefully, wealthy Americans will decide to do something productive, too.

this is so sad. I'm gonna see if I can help out, maybe give blood or something. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this.

Its not weather or not we need help; I would say we should accept it. Its just seems that everyone else is yelling at us how we should do things; then turn around - and what do we see? A smoking trail of hypocrates. (political Metephrical)

I am thankful that individuals are stepping up though. Even prayrers and heart felt wishes help. Thank you all

Actually, I didn't. All is NOT better over there now. And I honestly believe that the Government dropped the ball on this one, big time.

There is nothing happening. And they're feeding the public a line of bull and they're spinning, and people are dying down here. - Mayor of New Orleans.

Read the transcript, and listen to the audio because Mayor Nagin is one of the few politicians who's there and who's witnessing the devastation and who's not afraid to tell the Bush and his lackeys to get off their lazy asses and do something about this situation. I mean Christ, the man is crying by the end of the interview.

I am saddeneded that our great nation has taken such a tragic loss. Everything is chaotic right now, the price of gas, and the major hit. Only sadness fills my spirit now.

I'm also saddened to see everyone talking about OUR president of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Disprespectful really, but I can understand it. We are a grat nation and we have tried to help other's as much as we can. The other nation who is very poor said they would send back some of the items we had sent them. I am grateful that they had helped us. I don't find it funny or even humorous what so ever at this time, when something this tragic has hit us so hard. People are dying and your making a joke, people are being robbed, and your trying to be funny...there is no such place for someone like you...

As well as I want to say that I am praying for those who fell victims of the treacherous hurricane. In my heart I pray for you and think of you always...

I know it's terrible and gas prices are shooting through the roof. They have a nerve trying to arrest people for looting supplies they need to live it's not T.V.'s and stuff, you know bottled water and food and stuff. But if it was me, I would've niched from the jewelery stores and banks since I can swim, then I would leave the city and make big money!

I just cried seeing those people suffereing. They didn't deserve that. I seen a little boy on the news, crying because his mom drowned and all him and his dad had were the clothes on thier backs. It was horrible. It makes you think, you never know what you got till it's gone.
