Our school did a charity drive today.

We earned quite a large sum of money in $27,000.

    Our goal was $5000.

So i think we did ok.

Ours did too. But some people at our school are too selfish. I gave all the money I had with me. I bet if every school in America and other countries help donate, even if it is a little, we'll help thses people and maybe help to rebuild tha city, if Bush chooses to do so.

The people of New Orleans have earned that right, since the government has done very little, compared to the people of New Orleans and volunteer organizations.

Good luck to all of the New Orleans members, their families, and everyone else involved in this crisis.

Oh yeah, dishonoring yourself by looting stores and adding to the chaos is infinitely more productive than trying to help quell the conflagration, or helping at the local soup kitchen and hospitals. :rolleyes2

But it's like the mayor said. There are crazy drug addicts running around drug-starved, possibly with guns breaking into hospitals and drug stores. Nevermind the people who are just trying to survive. It's hard to really think about how it is there right now, really.

Actually, I didn't. All is NOT better over there now. And I honestly believe that the Government dropped the ball on this one, big time.

There is nothing happening. And they're feeding the public a line of bull and they're spinning, and people are dying down here. - Mayor of New Orleans.

Read the transcript, and listen to the audio because Mayor Nagin is one of the few politicians who's there and who's witnessing the devastation and who's not afraid to tell the Bush and his lackeys to get off their lazy asses and do something about this situation. I mean Christ, the man is crying by the end of the interview.
And, out of curiousity, why do you believe this politician over any other? Answer: Because you don't like Bush. Or you think that being there and seeing what is happening gives him more knowledge than someone who is trying to coordinate nationwide efforts. Maybe if that mayor got off his @$$, stopped apologizing to people who had lost everything, and started focusing on making sure that more people didn't lose everything, something would get done. Comforting widows and lost families is great for PR, but it's really lousy at helping people in need. "I've flown in those helecopters". As what? An observer who wasn't doing a thing except either getting in the way or taking up space which could be used to bring in more supplies or lift more people out. Bitching at Bush certainly isn't helping his people any more.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

Oh man. This is the reason why I stay out of this forum.

You honestly believe that the reason why this whole situation upsets me so much is because I dislike Bush?

Don't you get it? The Mayor of New Orleans doesn't have the resources to help out the people in trouble. The federal government does, and yet they've been so completely inefficient in handling this crisis. No one is "bitching at Bush" just for the hell of it. People are dying, and the Mayor along with everyone else is pleading with the Government to do something about it.

Dude, you know I don't exactly have an irrational dislike of Bush, but the fact is the Federal government took five days to get their asses down there. Now, I'm not saying other nations would do significantly better, and bear in mind the US is goddamn huge as well, it's not like a 100 mile flight to get aid there, but I can see why he was trying to get this help. From someone, anyone, who was listening.

You say yourself he is one of the "few". Few indicates that there are not that many. Which means that you are ignoring what the majority are saying in exchange for the opinions of a smaller group. Since you have no more idea what Bush is actually doing or trying to do, the only reason you have to believe the mayor of New Orleans over Bush is that you don't like Bush.

No where does Miriel say that she ignored the others. You do realize that someone who is there quite possibly may have a better view of it then someone miles away?

True it may be skewed, but the government has just been ineffecient about it. With our tech today we should have been down there in no time. We should have had martial law on the town in a day or two easy. Course with a good chunk of our military oversees that would slow it down somewhat... and who just happens to be the one who sent the military there?

Basically we should have been able to do more and do it faster then what we have managed. And I can tell you that is the common belief in my area(from what I have heard so far).

STILL Updating the anime list. . . I didn't think I was that much of an anime freak! I don't even want to consider updating the manga list!

The only reason? I have been watching the news, I've been reading the articles, I've talked to people who are down there. The "only reason" why I believe the Mayor over Bush is for the same exact reasons that I'm my own MILF and ShunNakamura already posted.

I don't understand why you keep insisting that my entire argument is based on me not liking Bush. You know what I don't like? I don't like people dying. I don't like people shooting each other and beating each other up over a bag of ice. I have an abject hatred for those who are running around raping women who are too starved and exhausted to defend themselves.

Whether you love Bush, whether you hate Bush, how can anyone look at this situation and say, "hey, Bush and the government did everything they could." Because they didn't. And lives were lost because of the lack of action.

A lot of people screwed up, not just Bush or the Federal Gov't. The governors and mayors also have their share of responsibility because they waited so long to 1) order the evacuation (should have been almost 24h earlier), 2) recall the National Guards and call for help from the neighboring States' Guards (should have been done before the Hurricane hit).

    And then there is Death

People are dead, in pain, and in need of salvation. We are lucky to be just on the internet posting on a forum about it. Instead of stranded on a roof top with your clothes off, because they are all you had to write out the word "HLP" in a dire attept to spell help. (another powerful pic i have stumbled on)

No matter how many times I hear Bush appologize for the situation, I cannot take him serriously. That is simply where I stand. I will applaud him now for getting off his butt and getting into action, but I do not see the seemingly overlooked events, and slow reaction time as being excusable.

It is our duty as people to see that the cause for such a clumsey operation gets found out, and ironed out. It happend once shame on the government. If it happens twice, shame on us. right?
