The fact remains that alot of the stuck up @$$holes in Europe aren't doing so much as lifting a finger to lend a hand. I appreciate the help that is being offered. I just wish that the self-centered countries who aren't doing a thing to help would quit bitching when we don't lend them a hand.
There's an old nursery tale about a guy who's making bread. He asks others to help him sow the grain, harvest it, bake the bread, etc... No one helps him, and then they are shocked when he eats it all himself. That's the US. If you want our aid, you have to do something to deserve it. Our country has enough problems without giving handouts to everyone else.
Also, I didn't say a thing about you. The only person I mentioned, in fact, was Cloud No.9, who was extremely vehement in his rantings at the US for not helping other countries. Notice that he hasn't said a word about how his country and 90% of the others in the world haven't done a thing to aid us. That's being a hypocrite, and I have no problem pointing it out.

At any rate, I know what you mean. Thing is, the US is happy to help even those nations who don't do anything for them, as they've demonstrated time and again. They help nations who have no logistical or material capacity for helping anyone else in return.
what a terrible thing to happen. I'm so sorry to all my american friends. Being British I'm not used to big natural disasters. Hope Mr Blair helps out which I'm sure he will.

I have seen TV's get left out in the rain, and still work. I have recovered a laptop that fell in a lake before.
