Exactly. And we get bitched at for not helping enough anyway. People seem to think that the US exists solely as a money tree for all other countries...
Quite likely that he wouldn't, but he still deserves it fairly known that he didn't respond because he couldn't, not necessarily because he had nothing to say.

Queen Anthai: I'm sorry that you have lost so much. I hope the people who stayed behind are doing ok, too, of course. Remember that no matter what, you can rebuild though.

Not to sound like a prick or anything (I know i will but meh) I kinda wonder why they are really gonna go through all the hassle of rebuilding the city. I am sure there is a lot more structural damage than we know about to all of the different areas. Cost wise it seems like it would be a loss.

/shrug. That being said, I am glad they are gonna rebuilt, it just kinda shocked me thats all. Bush said it will take *years* to get the city back to a hundred percent

It will never be the same imo. With the ecconomic fallout and the lives lost. The land value will also plumit. It is sad

People will rebuild, well, because they always will rebuild if it's where they feel at home. We're stubborn and territorial creatures. I'm sure many people won't want to return, but many will want to as well.

Some charities, there's a fair spread there if you wish to donate.

Except Canada, who has announced a willingness to give whatever aid they can (specifically medical attention), to the people of New Orleans. I'd like to say "thank you" for their support in this time of crisis.
Unlike 3rd world countries, I don't think America NEEDS immediate outside help. There are countries, like Canada, Ireland, UK, Spain & Italy with others who have already pledged anything America needs, but America isn't asking right now, that's the difference.

Looting happens everywhere. To Rye I don't think you can sit there in your un-flooded house and call people who have nothing left 'apathetic' about it. they are in the wrong, undoubtedly so, but understandably so. People who have nothing left will try to rise above thgat, in any way they can.

It's a dire situation and my heart goes out to the survivors and families. Mother nature takes no sides or prisoners.

I call them pathetic too. Its not like they are stealing to survive. All in all it is pathetic. Its barbaric and no morality is shown in that situation. I don't care however anyone tries to excuse it; they are screwing over other people so that they can be less screwed. It doesn't make any sence. If they were stealing some food or whatever because they were trapped - that is one entireley different story. This, is not that story. If you want to call it human nature, good go for it. Then call me an alien plz.

European contries should learn curtosey. No matter how big we are, we still help where we believe it is good to do so. Next time Europe doesn't ask for help, we should not streatch our necks out an inch. Then watch them complain. :rolleyes2

I heard that France is considering sending help (probably troops/medical aid) from its military bases in Guadeloupe and around. No clue if it'll happen, though.

    And then there is Death

Bipper explains it quite well. They're not stealing to survive. That I can definitely understand. They're stealing for greed.

New Orleans' mayor has ordered the abandonment of the city.... it's a complete loss, for months at least.

Extra troops are bolstering the anti-looting and rescue efforts, so things should be getting under control soon...
Terrible business, though. You never expect a disaster of this scale in the US...

It seems that there are marauding gangs of armed youths doing whatever they want in the streets... Young women, hospital supplies... nothing's safe. It's truly abominable. With a military as large and strong and America's, there's little excuse for this kind of delay in responding effectively. There's a time and place for martial law, and this is it. If a country's going to give everyone the "right" to own guns, then it needs to be prepared to protect those who don't choose to exercise this right.

New Orleans is a city of half a million people... even with potentially thousands of dead, that's still a huge number of refugees who are going to need food, shelter and support for months, maybe years. It's good that there's an international response reinforcing the US's own measures.

It truly is beyond belief that people are trying to kill the rescue workers in these cities. Hopefully these despicable lowlifes will be wind up alongside the innocent casualties before they can hurt anyone else.

Thanks for this link, but I would like to warn people against giving money to the Red Cross. During the 9/11 aftermath, they took money from people who had contributed it specifically for use in helping people who had been suffering due to 9/11, and used it elsewhere. They are also not a non-profit charity, and charge for basically every service they provide.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

Yeah, I'm no fan of the Red Cross either, which is why I tracked a more comprehensive set of charities down rather than just saying "RED CROSS OPLZ DONATE".

I'm not even going to pass comment on the more discpicable acts which seem to have occured. They are beyond my mind to comprehend.

I aggree with you on all of this, especially with the last line
I think that this should be a lesson to us all of just how far mankind has come. Not very. Civilization seems to be the only thing controlling these primative outbreaks. This is truely rediculous to hear all this evil going on. Rapeing and pillaging like some sorrta barbaric invasion. Do these people realize what they are doing?

I am truely at a loss. I may never understand what it is like to be in thier position. If I ever begin to stoop to these barbaric principles, GOD take me.

On the bright side, I seen many people on the news whom are being reuinted with thier families and eachother. It sadly seems, that many families were seperated and lost members in the events.

I am saddened and feel remorse for these people. Everyone (gas cos, red cross, pillagers) is looking to capitalze off of the disaster, while some people I just seen on TV would gladly give everything - even the clothes off thier back - they own just to have thier children back.

I feel bad, as all I can do is offer a heart filled prayer. GOD willing, everything will find its way back to normal. Those whom have lost, I pray they find the streangth to live on and enjoy plentiful blessings.

I'm so infuriated with our government right now, it's unbelievable. While Katrina was raping New Orleans, Bush was in California playing a freakin' guitar with a Country singer.

What in the hell is wrong with this man?
