I'm pretty sure he's having a flashback to an incident where his hometown was destroyed by a silver haired man with a long sword. The red panels show Kevaughn stabbing this figure, who will probably turn out to be the main villain of the comic. Unfortunately, the incident resulted in Kevaughn confusing his identity with his friend, a man who wielded a rapier and spoke without resorting to normal grammar. After being held in a lab for five years, the two escaped, but his friend died just before Kevaughn was found and taken in by Ganalath. Kevaughn superimposed the actions of his friend over his own, although he's beginning to remember his own climactic duel with the mysterious villain who probably killed Kevaughn's mother.
