Default Go get gas right now.

I am sure most of you are aware of this, but gas is shooting up at an incredibly fast rate. Because the oil places are shut down in New Orleans because of flooding, gas production has stopped. On the radio today, a gas representative said that premium is going to hit four dollars. I have seen gas in my area at 2.95 and 3.25 for regular unleaded. I lucked out and got 2.72 a bit ago. However, it's going to rise. Fill up your tank ASAP.

One of the (many) good things about living in Texas is that the gas prices are generally so much less insane than in other places. I just recently filled up for 2.54, and gas prices aren't expected to get much more than about 2.75 around here.

False. That's more expensive than most places actually, including here and where my sister lives. So stop it...it's getting really old now.

I don't own a car, and I'm glad...even if gas were 13 cents a gallon I still wouldn't because the hell that comes with them just isn't worth it to me (and walking sure as hell isn't going to hurt me).

Seems a bit unnecessary, as I hope you would know that my constant Texas-hyping is in good fun by now. But yes, in the 2.50s is the same or cheaper than what I have been seeing in most places, in the 60s at the cheapest, and 70s. www.gasbuddy.com is a good place to look. Check out the major cities. Most are in the 2.60s from what I can see. Tennessee is one place that appears cheaper. But when it comes to major cities, my area is one of the cheaper ones.

Edit: Virginia is another place that seems cheaper. But for the most part I see 2.60s, especially in a comparable place, population-wise, in California.

EDIT: Additionally, it seems that gas is cheaper in other parts of the city, as low as in the 2.40s.

The lowest I've seen in G.A. so far is 2.75 or so. It will most likely rise but since I've moved in on campus I don't use my truck a lot. So I'm safe for now. xD

I live in Texas too and I filled up this afternoon for $2.44. It was the cheapest one in town, though, and every pump had at least four cars in line waiting. I saw one gas station go from $2.53 this morning up to $2.59 by this afternoon.

It's bound to happen, I guess. Gas prices here in upper Michigan typically aren't that insane, and I don't do a lot of driving, so granted I don't feel the effect like, say, parents, or those who travel a lot, but the rates don't bother me so much. Even when the price suddenly jumps 5 cents or so per gallon, it seems like a fair trade for the convenience of automobile transportation.

If it suddenly shot up to $4, and that was an ongoing trend, I'd probably start to worry, but if there's a legit reason for a temporary, dramatic increase in prices (like Hurricane Katrina hampering oil output - especially in this case where I'd be more worried about the hurricanes other effects), I'll survive.

I live in San Diego, and it's almost $3.00 a gallon. I am so lucky i live across the street from my work and my wife car pools.

It's been close to $3 here, but never actually hit that mark. Right now it's 2.57. Which really isn't that bad I suppose. But yes, I'm sure it'll get to $3/gallon around here by the end of the year =/

Its this reason why i would like America to slowly weed off its car industry and actually start a massive Mass Trasnportation system that is efficient and in good service like in HK or Japan or something of the sort. Of course i doubt it would happen, US is a car country and they would HATE losing money like that. I wouldnt mind not having a car if i can actually get to where i wanna go with mass transit consistantly enough and cheap enough. Meh.

I find it amusing that despite a massive rise in prices, they still pay less than half of what we pay for petrol (gas).
