I can make this tank last until the prices go down again. I've been on this tank for about two months now and still have 1/3 tank left.
Yeah, foa for the win. People don't realise that America uses more gas, because... I dunno... could it be the fact that... America is a huge country?Originally Posted by fire_of_avalon

Oh, and it's not a problem in WNC anymore. Apparently we just ran out. Everywhere. *facepalm*
Signature by rubah. I think.
Well I know what I am going to do with any saved money from any job I have. Gotta save up for that Honda Insight. Couldn't talk my parents into for the new family car so I guess I'll go save and get one myself. And its gas mileage is nothing to sneeze at. I have heard as high as 90mpg from people who have one.
Anyways dad just filled up our Buick station wagon and the new Ford Explorer(this is what I was argueing about. I told them to get something with better gas mileage. They told me not to worry since they would prolly be buying the gas.. well they better.. I ain't paying to put 8$ of gas in it just to drive to town). I think he put in nearly 100$ in those two.
Edit- Dad just put another 80$ in our large Cargo/Passenger Van.
Hell,we should sign a petiton.....E.a.H (EoFF'ers Against Hurricanes!!!)Originally Posted by nik0tine

Rye made this!
I hate the oil companies for raising the prices and reaping the ill earned rewards of unfortunate oppertunity. I think that the oil industry is just as evil as the pillagers for raising thier prices.
They are gaining money from us, that should be going to help the efforts against the Katrina disaster.

Well for now the only solution until prices lower is carpooling and planning your routes.
I know right now in gasoline 10% ethanol is added for cleaner burning fuel and more efficiency. In most large busses 85% ethanol is used (also referred too as 'natural gas.') along with 15% of gasoline seeing it requires a crude oil base. Now... If we can harness the knowledge of making ethanol alone into an efficient fuel we'd resolve a lot of problems. Atleast the amount of ethanol being used would outweight the gasoline in ration.
Erm, no, this is a natural reaction. The places charging $6, yeah, they're out of line. But the rises in price are coming about because there is simply not enough production capacity with the Gulf Coast out of commission for days, weeks, possibly even months. Supply and demand.Originally Posted by bipper
The supply can be met; but it is'nt either way OPEC does have a major influence on the supply of oil. Its not like we are at a HUGE shortage. (Please correct me if i am wrong). Its just reminding me of the post 9/11 hike. Rediculous imo. I have tried searching though and cannot find a whole lot on this subject.
To me it just seems since American prodcution is down, the importers will raise there prices above the curve of supply and deman. Feeding off a false misconceptions caused by the storm. I hate it when humans become canabalistic parasites. There are a lot of things I don't agree with though, and I guess - I just have to deal with it(duh)
edit - Sorry, I mean I know that we have a low supply stateside, and that it will go up reguardless as it will cost it more to get over here. I blame both our government, and not so much OPEC for not producing enough of a reserve for emergenies. The price does seem to get overexaduatied though. When you think of how much tax is made of gass and look at the tax/gallon ratio, then take into concideration the hike... yeah - it is rediculous. Supply and demand should not rape.
