So the kids the music is aimed at arn't allowed to like bands if they've never followed them for their entire lives?Originally Posted by Sephex
I love american idiot. why is it such a bad album?
It represents the growth of the band perfectly imo. The lyrics have a ton more thought put into em than previous releases. I must admit thier blantent lyrics were great too.
I think Nimrod and AI were my favorite cds. Dookie is great too; but not my fav. (My wife would kill me dead if she reads that though)
Ixnay on the hombre or smash has got to be some of my favorite harder music. Along with Korn and Breakin Benjamin.ever listened to offspring my friend ??

Green Day = best live punk band![]()
i didnt like Dookie, the only songs i liked from that album were the ones released... i like nimrod ... and the superhits...
OMGZ IM BACK!1!!11!
steal this album
oh wait-
dookie if i must, but green day aren't fantabulous
No, but it kind of pisses me off when anybody who suddenly likes any band of any age acts like they have been their biggest fan all their lives because they like the band's newest album--which is what I see happening with young people and Green Day.Originally Posted by MecaKane
It's the same crap with Nirvana. Almost every teen today who is into rock based music claims to really like Nirvana, and they claim they liked them their whole lives. Maybe that is true for a couple of them. But they were around five years old when Kobain blew his head off, so I highly doubt all of them have been following Nirvana since their early ages.
For the record, I think there is nothing wrong if you get into a band suddenly for whatever reason. However, when you lie about it and claim you have been there since the band's first album, that is what gets to me. Sorry I didn't make that clear last night. I see young people who get into older bands lie about this kind of thing far too often these days. Once again, I know not every single one of them who says something like that is lying about it. For example, take myself. Because of my parents, I've been into Pink Floyd my entire life. I am 23. Obviously, I wasn't around at their peak or anything like that. I probably would have evntually liked them, but not at my early age.
Anyway, to sum everything up: What I meant by my first post was that it kind of pisses me off that young people (mainly teens) are all of a sudden listening to Green Day because they are huge again. That pissed me off becuase about two years ago when they weren't nominated for a zillion MTV VMA awards, no young person really followed them. Now that they are into them, I have seen so many young people lie about being into them since their earlier albums. I know that there are probably some fans with a Pink Floydish story like mine, but I HIGHLY doubt all of the young fans that claim to have liked them as long as they say they do are telling the truth.

I see where you're coming from, but then there's me. I suppose the only reason I got into Green Day because both of my brothers have been huge fans of them for years. And I'm glad I did, because most of their stuff before American Idiot was awesome. But it does piss me off that a hell of a lot of people (some of my friends, as well) insist that they've always been Green Day fans, and have only heard the newest album. Ew. And also, everybody who's like "lol greenday is punks lol im a punk". Green Day aren't even punk, they're pop-punkish.Originally Posted by Sephex

Trust No one
Last time I checked, Green Day were pop-punk, a very widely used term for anything vaguely alternative or unplaceable. To me, Green Day are another band which has been propelled from its darker days towards a brighter future, only to plummet once more in the near future. Fame doesn't last.

Green Day are catchy, so I've only got their Superhits album and American Idiot. Who cares? I went to see them live, it's fun.
