Fullmetal Alchemist is partly named after a Kubrick film, but that doesn't mean I have to partly love it. I do anyway, but I don't have to.

No, Stanley Kubrik is something that has been officially declared "a matter of personal taste". Not liking at least one Steppenwolf song is a lot like saying "I hate kittens, ice cream, puppies, all forms of alcohol, hockey, loud music, and everything else that gives life meaning."
