I think the composer is Yasunori Mitsuda. I know i'll probably get shot for saying this, but the CT music, as great as it was, never got my attention as much as the music in FF. It was good though. Also it may have had something to do with playing it so much, that I got sick of it.

I agree FF is more endearing, but for a first time attempt like this, Mitsuda did fantastic.
