    Default Great Sports Coaches

We need a sports discussion here.

Given the major sports wherever you live, who are the greatest coaches ever? Who might be considering the greatest coach/manager in all of sports history?

    Discuss.

Football: Tom Landry (sorry, but I'm biased...you don't coach a team for 29 years for no reason)
    Basketball: Red Auerbach
Baseball: I'm gonna have to go with Bobby Cox, and agree with eest.

I take it this is for American's, but I'm gonna say Sir Alex Ferguson for turning Manchester United from Mid-Table side to arguably the greatest English football team in history.

    Hmm...

    NCAA Basketball: John Wooden, obviously.

    NBA: Red Auerbach.

NCAA Football: This is difficult. Even with all his difficulties the past few years, though, I'm going with Joe Paterno.

NFL: Also difficult. I'll take Vince Lombardi.

MLB: Historically, no one's close to Connie Mack in terms of wins, but that doesn't necessarily make him the best manager. Among active managers, I'll take Cox over Tony La Russa, but I haven't yet decided on a choice for "best ever."

Duncan Fletcher. Turned the English cricket team from Officially the worst team in the world, to todays beating of Australia, the world Champions, and regaining the ashes for the first time in 18 years.
