They're not supposed to be the same comic. The girl's costume in the "prototype" scan is copied from the female Mimic in Final Fantasy Tactics, meaning it was made in 1997 at the earliest.

My mistake there. The site really doesn't make the distinction between them both being different comics. The second really does have a fanart/webcomic look to it though (and it was the one I was questioning the legitimacy of, not the first pic if I wasn't clear before).
