There's three types. Standard direct TCP/IP connection, Internet based connection with match-ups involing computer-stored characters, and Gamespy based connection with match-ups involving server-stored characters. In a nutshell, it means that the "Internet" part doesn't require registration but will be hacked to hell, but the "Gamespy" one will be relatively (I hope) hack free, but will require a Gamespy account.Originally Posted by tsukasa
